Awaiting Spring in May 2019

We're almost half-way through May 2019 in Vermont and are still waiting for weather both warm and dry enough to begin planting outside. This is my first real year of gardening from seed. It is also the first year I have a Community Garden plot, 10 x 20 feet. The gardens haven't been prepped yet by Parks and Rec, so that new experience is yet to start.

In the meantime here is a glimpse of Pre-Garden, May 2019. The first photo is from this morning. It represents about half of my vegetables and shows how the trays are moved throughout the day in the sun-room to catch the light.

This is the plant shelf where my original intention was to grow herbs for cooking.

A makeshift plant shelf in the basement to catch the afternoon light. I planted the beans and peas WAY too early. That's squash at the bottom.

Relocating pots among window sills depending on time of day and the sun.

The start of flowers in late April. This is in my office, using a 3000 lumens with 4000K color range 4' florescent light. Should be 5000K for a grow light, but it's doing the job.

This is my primary grow shelf in the furnace room. When I feel a moment of recklessness and indulgence I want to double the number of grow lights!
